Fraser River Lodge: Merging of Cultures
S&H celebrated their wedding at the beautiful Fraser River Lodge in Agassiz, BC. It was the kind of Fraser Valley wedding that perfectly captures why so many couples dream of getting married in British Columbia. Surrounded by mountains, forest, and riverfront views, their celebration blended natural West Coast beauty with heartfelt storytelling, emotional moments, and a beautiful merging of Japanese, Filipino, and Canadian cultures.
As a Vancouver wedding officiant, wedding DJ, and wedding photography team, we had the honour of helping bring the entire experience together from the ceremony through the celebration afterward. The whole day felt warm, personal, and deeply connected to who they are as a couple. From live violin music during the processional to their dog Kovu delivering the wedding rings, every part of the day reflected their personalities and the life they have built together.
The Vision:
S&H wanted a wedding that felt elegant and emotional without losing the relaxed atmosphere they love most. Fraser River Lodge in Agassiz, BC created the perfect setting for that vision. The natural surroundings already feel cinematic, so the couple leaned into earthy tones and timeless styling that complemented the venue instead of competing with it.
The groom and groomsmen wore rich dark brown tones while the bridesmaids were dressed in soft sage green, creating a beautiful palette against the Fraser Valley landscape. Every detail felt intentional while still feeling effortless and authentic.
The Ceremony Experience:
Although it was Easter Weekend in early April, we were treated to a beautiful sunny day. Guests came dressed beautifully for this stunning outdoor ceremony setting with the towering West Coast mountains in the background. The ceremony itself was filled with personal storytelling and genuine emotion. Steven entered to Nathaniel Rateliff’s “I Need Never Get Old,” setting a laid back and joyful tone before the wedding party walked in to an instrumental version of “Until I Found You.”
One of the most memorable moments came when Kovu, the couple’s dog, walked down the aisle carrying the wedding rings attached to his collar. Guests immediately smiled and laughed, and it perfectly reflected the couple’s warmth and personality.
Then everything slowed down when Hazelett walked down the aisle with her father, Dale, while a violinist played “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” With the mountains surrounding the ceremony space and guests fully present in the moment, it became one of those unforgettable wedding scenes that feels almost cinematic.
Their ceremony story had everyone engaged from beginning to end. Their Vancouver wedding Officiant Dennis told the story of how the couple first met on Bumble after she noticed his firefighter calendar profile photo, complete with a rescue chainsaw. Their first date in Port Moody quickly turned into an entire evening together because neither of them wanted the night to end.
Guests laughed through stories of their travels across Mexico, Japan, the Philippines, and South Korea, and listened closely as the groom proposal story unfolded. During a getaway to the Sunshine Coast, he brought his future bride to Secret Beach to search for shiny rocks before surprising her with the engagement ring.
What made this wedding so special was how genuinely they spoke about one another. The bride described the groom as hardworking, thoughtful, and someone who constantly shows love through quiet gestures and surprises. He spoke about her positivity, humour, and the effortless connection they share together.
Their ceremony also included a beautiful community vow where family and friends were invited to actively support the marriage. Hearing everyone respond with “We do” created a powerful feeling of connection and unity that reflected the importance of family and culture throughout the day.
The Celebration:
As the evening continued, Fraser River Lodge transformed into an unforgettable wedding celebration filled with music, laughter, dancing, and connection. The relaxed atmosphere allowed guests to fully enjoy the experience while the natural beauty of the venue created incredible moments for wedding photography throughout the day and evening.
This wedding was a reminder that the most meaningful celebrations are not always the most extravagant. Sometimes the weddings guests remember most are the ones that feel honest, emotional, welcoming, and deeply personal from beginning to end.
The Details:
Each moment was captured by Dynamic Weddings Photography. We started with the getting ready segments. It was so much fun capturing all the excited energy before the festivities began. Once they were all ready to go, we orchestrated an adorable first look between the bride and groom followed by a fun photo session. It was quickly time to transition over to the ceremony to make it official. We loved capturing the candid images after the ceremony. We carved out some time during the evening program for “Sunset” Photos more accurately called “Golden Hour” which represents the more diffused lights for stunning images. We even brought out the drone for a few shots during this segment. The Vancouver wedding photography service ended soon after dancing started but were were able to capture several epic party shots for a great memory.
