The Permanent wedding filled with Culture & Style.
You know you are doing something right when a bride who also happens to be a professional wedding photographer hires you to handle the majority of her wedding needs. She hired us as the Planner, Coordinator, Officiant and DJ. I loved working for this couple as they were so easy to work with and were totally open to our suggestions which allowed us to achieve so much more together.
This wedding was at the elaborate Permanent wedding venue in downtown Vancouver. It was built in 1907 to house the BC Permanent & Loan Company. By 1935, it became a branch of the Bank of Canada and underwent full restoration in 2009. It is now an event space boating it’s historic charm and modern amenities. It’s stained glass ceiling is one of the many highlights including the bank vault. If you look closely, we stood in front of the bank vault doors during the ceremony. On the other side is an opening to go inside while enjoying cocktail hour. We put fancy couches in there for guests to relax and chat.
In order to honour the grooms Scottish ancestry, he and his groomsman wort kilts to add a meaningful touch of heritage and pride to the celebration. Dennis, as their Vancouver wedding officiant wore a blue suit to match the kilts and a black shirt and tie to match the bridesmaids dresses. We had a lot of fun with designing the florals and decor for this wedding, including a stunning arrangement hanging above us for the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, guests moved to the back bar and vault for a lovely cocktail hour while we did our magic and transformed the room from ceremony space, to reception space. This included adding all the tables, chairs, linen, plates, cutlery, florals, decor and a whole lot more all during the cocktail hour. It was a large task and were able to make it happen. In fact, when a few unexpected delays occurred, Dennis stayed back after officiating the wedding to help set up as well as our Dynamic Weddings DJ jumped into the action to lend a helping hand as well. Now that’s teamwork.
Speaking of our DJ, he helped create an amazing party atmosphere with amazing music. The dance floor was full from start to finish and nobody wanted to go home. Let’s just say, chants of: “One more song!” was repeated several times. LMAO.
