Hycroft Manor Elegant wedding
Hycroft Manor is operated by the University Women’s Club of Vancouver. One of the few spectacular heritage buildings offered as a wedding venue in Vancouver, it’s in our top 3 preferred venues. We had the pleasure of working with M&K, one of the most kindest couple we have ever had.
Dennis, the owner of Dynamic Weddings was their Planner and Officiant. Their vision was elegance highlighted by stunning decor and florals. Everything was meticulously planned from the custom menus to signage and colour scheme. However, mother nature had other details.
Due to the compact schedule (Hycroft closes at 11pm), set up of all the dinner tables were arranged in advance. Hycroft has the most stunning outdoor covered terrace to enjoy dinner. However, all the tables were set aside outside was not covered as the centre (which is covered) needed to be open for the ceremony processional and recessional along with cocktail hour. There was no rain when the ceremony started on the beautiful Juliette Balcony. We enjoyed such a heart warming and meaningful Vancouver wedding ceremony with Vancouver wedding officiant Dennis Bellia. However, as soon as the ceremony was wrapping up, Dennis felt a few rain drops on his (bald) head. Cue to wrap up the ceremony, which I promptly did.
Once the ceremony was done and everyone went to the cocktail area, the rain came. It poured is a more accurate description. One big problem. All the beautifully decorated tables were uncovered. We raced to move them under cover but first, we needed to usher the 100 or so guests inside to make room. Since Hycroft has such a spacious foyer and secondary rooms, there was plenty of space for guests to mingle about comfortably inside. Guests didn’t even realize that moving inside wasn’t part of the plan. They just moved inside as directed and we did our magic outside.
By that point, everything was drenched. Yes, soaked! No worries, we were quick to action. first step, clear the tables. Second step, put all the table cloths and napkins in the dryer. Yes, there was a dryer available. Third step, lay out each and every menu card to air dry. Fourth step, dry each and every utensil, plate, chair and more. This is where our Dynamic Weddings team came in clutch. Dennis (officiant remained to help), our Day of Coordinator, our DJ/MC, the floral and decor team and Hycroft staff all worked together and magically put everything out and ready with time to spare! Yes, we were amazed ourselves. once cocktail hour was done and it was time to sit, everything was dried and arranged perfectly. Even the menu cards didn’t even look like they had been wet.
Everyone enjoyed a spectacular dinner that only the catering team at Hycroft can provide. After speeches and a cake cutting, everyone relocated downstairs to the ballroom for dancing. As part of our service, we set up beautiful purple/pink uplights downstairs to transform the space. Our DJ/MC kept the party going right until the very end for a wonderful end to the celebration.
What could have been a very stressful situation, ended up being such a lovely day with stories to tell. Teamwork was definitely the main component for this day. We loved how our clients also were so chill and allowed us to do what we needed to go to make this a success. See their 5 star review below.
